There is a flying tip and an acronym index at the bottom of the report for those not understanding some of the weather jargon. ;)

29 June 2026

Good morning all you super cool Wild2fly people! A great pre-frontal day of no flying yesterday. But pilots did fly in other parts of the world. That heatwave in EU producing some of the best flying the pilots have ever had that side. ;) Only one flight over 300km from the Alps - Guillaume manage a sweet FAI triangle of 300.17km! ;)  https://www.xcontest.org/world/en/flights/detail:guiguiblues/28.06.2026/07:48#fd=comment It is also his cover pic we are featuring. :)) Nice story too. 18 flights over 200km and 109 flights over 100km recorded on Xcontest yesterday. :) Our weather today is post frontal as the CF swept past during the night along the Wilderness coast. Some big Wave formations along the southern Drakensberg (See below) and an amazing frontal wave along the KZN coastline! (See the vertical velocity map below!) It’s not often so defined. Back to Wilderness we have a chance of showers hanging around with winds initially westerly with a slow backing to the SW around lunchtime into the mid-afternoon. Cloud base is nice and high with 3k plus on the cards. Sedge might offer a window in the late afternoon I think anytime from 15:30 onwards. At 16:00 you could still make cloud base so it might worth a try. Dress warm though! lol ;) Otherwise I think the coast would be the place to be from lunchtime onwards and wait for the right window for a flight. Lekker! ;) High tide at 15:39 and low tide around 6 hours either side of that. Sunrise was at 7:36 and setting at 17:31. Daylight of 9 hrs and 55 min. (for Wilderness). Max temps today an icy 14 degrees C in Wilderness! Have a lekker one everybody and as always, remember also to take a moment and reflect on God. :) That’s really what life is all about. (John 10:10. Rom 10:9. Eph 4:31-32.)

Todays flying tip: Have a plan for that day you might be sucked into the clouds! ;)
